Hillary had everyone from work over for a PJ and craft party.  We had so much fun!  The kids love getting together with all of their friends and having a good time. Thanks Day family for hosting a great event!

Attached

Ashtyn has been very attached to her sister lately.  They have been playing so well together!  I love that they are so close and hope they can stay close as they get older.  Carl even made the comment ONCE that he wished we had one more baby the same age difference apart.  They are great... so great in fact that today when we went to Chick-Fil-A Ashtyn cried hysterically (it was so sad) because Ellie was playing with the other kids and not just her.  It is crazy, but sweet!  Side note:  I have even heard her tell Brady he can't play with Ellie.  Ashtyn also likes to do or say what Ellie does so she is like a little parrot just copying her every word!  I absolutely love it and it fills my heart with joy!  Hopefully the love stays for years to come!

Ellie and Christmas

Ellie was playing on the floor in the livingroom when I was working in the kitchen...she asked me if I knew what Christmas was all about.  I thought she would say Jesus especially since she goes to a private preschool. Nope, Christmas is about candy mommy.  I then said to her, "No Ellie that is not what Christmas is about.  It is about Jesus and the day he was born!"  Ellie, "Oh yeah, I was going to say that too!"  Oh, dear!

Ashtyns Room

Ashtyn has been sleeping in her bed for almost 2 weeks now! I can't believe she adjusted so well.  It takes a little time to get her down, but she has been doing so well.  She even sleeps in her room for naps!  One night she called me into her room(she does this about 20 times before she finally falls asleep).  This time was a little different.  She looked very upset and said she didn't want to sleep in her room because she saw baby Jesus in there and he was in the manger. I mean really...who's scared of baby Jesus!  I could help but laugh!

Thanksgiving

This year for Thanksgiving we relaxed and ate my moms and then went down to Carl's parents house for dinner.  It was a very nice Thanksgiving because it was low key and I didn't have to clean anything up at my house.  I took the time to dress the girls up and curl their hair with a curling iron.  Their hair is so fine that it didn't curl very well, but we still had fun doing it!  I even took the time to paint their nails.  They absolutely loved it and looked adorable too!  I just want to say how thankful I am for these two little girls and how truly blessed I feel that God chose me to be their mommy!

Robot

Today Ellie saw a commercial for the Robot (it cleans the floors all by itself).  She asked me if she could please get it for me.  She said if I had the Robot it would clean the house for me and I could then make her snacks, get her toys, get her a drink, etc.  I looked at her and said no Ellie I am not a maid I am your mom and you have to start doing these things on your own (we live with my parents right now and my dad waits on her hand and foot)!  She is nuts!

Dentist

Both girls had a dentist appointment on Nov. 23rd.  This was Ellie's second trip to the dentist and Ashtyn's first.  Ellie was very nervous and did not want to go. Ashtyn was very excited and couldn't wait!  I'm not surprised because there is not much Ash is afraid of. When we got there, Ellie was looking around and you could see tears in her eyes.  All Ashtyn wanted to do was get her jacket off and play with the toys.  We go to Kids Dentistry on State Street in New Albany and love it.  They are very friendly and their office is clean and kid friendly.  Laura (our dental hygienist) took both of the girls back immediately.  I asked if Ashtyn could go first becase I knew if Ellie went and cried there was no way Ash would go (I took both of the girls by myself).  Ashtyn hopped right up and Ms. Laura went to work.  Ashtyn did a great job and she was very excited to get her new Dora toothbrush.  Ellie went next.  She was still a little nervous, but felt a little better because she watched Ashtyn go first.  Both kids even got to take "pictures" of their teeth and Ms. Laura was nice enough to print off a picture for each of them to have.  Overall, no cavities and a painless trip!

Tyson's Birthday

  Ellie and Tyson

Today we went up to my friend Julie's house for her son's birthday.  Tyson turned 4 and we were there to celebrate.  Julie found Ellie and Tyson in Tyson's bed.  Julie said she heard Ellie ask Tyson to read her a book.  She had tucked herself in and put all the animals around her.  The kids had a fun time playing together.  Ellie has already learned how to boss boys around!;)  Thanks Julie for having us up and Happy Birthday Tyson!

Our House

Our house is finally going to be finished!  We are so excited.  We signed the contract in April, moved in with my parents in June, and have been living with them since.  It hasn't been as bad as I would have thought, but buying a home is stressful.  Especially if you want it to be perfect like me!  The kids are so excited about their bedrooms and their playroom.  I can't wait to have a home for all the toys.  It seems like we were swimming in them.  With Christmas around the corner, I can't even imagine what these kids are going to get.  I have a feeling Santa is going to be bring a lot of barbie things!

The Girls

I just wanted to type some things about the girls while I was thinking of them.
Ellie~ Ellie you are very smart (a little too smart at times).  You have such a caring heart and are always thinking of others.  At times, you show your stubborn side, but we can always count on you to do the right things and help out when needed.  You will start Kindergarten in less than a year and it will be one of the worst days about being a mommy so far.  I want to cry just thinking about my sweet little girl going to school.  You make us so proud and I know this is only the start of all the great things you will do!
Ashtyn~  Oh....my little Ashtyn.  What can I saw about you?  You came into this world screaming and you have been screaming ever since.  You are such a independant little girl who loves to run around and have fun!  You love your sister so much and want to me just like her.  I think you remind me so much of your Auntie Robin (which by the way you love sooooooo much).  You are now doing gymnastics and love every minute of it.  Your teacher said you are doing so well she wants to move you up.  You love watching the cheerleaders and I think one day you will be one.  You make me so happy and crazy at the same time.  You are so funny and just like your sister, very smart.  You want to have it your way all the time and that is why I think you will be in charge of a big company one day!  I love both of you guys and hope that my memories of you two keeping filling my eyes with tears and my heart with more love!

Nose

Tonight I was in bed with Ashtyn and I asked her where she got her nose from (meaning...who has a nose like yours, mom or dad).  She looked at me and said very seriously...Kmart.  Really?  Kmart?  I don't even shop there.

Jesus

Tonight, I asked Ellie to help me clean up the living room.  She was running back and fourth from her room to the living room like a mad women trying to get her job done.  After about 5 minutes, she told me she couldn't help me anymore.  She said Jesus was in her heart and he said she couldn't help anymore.  I said why....her answer.......he's tired.  RIGHT....how can you argue with Jesus?

Halloween

This year Hillary and I decided to dress the kids up like, The Wizard of Oz.  Ellie was Glenda the Good Witch, Ashtyn was Dorothy, Brady was the Scarecrow, and  Cooper was the Lion. They looked so cute and we know we won't be able to do this for much longer.  We started going around Elk Run and then went to visit Carl's parents.  We ended the night walking through my moms neighborhood.  The kids had so much fun and got so much candy!

Gymnastics

The girls started gymnastics on Wednesday.  They loved it!  Gymnastics is what Ashtyn is made of....she loves to run, jump, climb, and play in the cheese pit.  Ellie loves it!  I hesitated putting her in it because of her leg, but gave in because she wanted to do it so bad.  She looked like she was having so much fun!  Ashtyn has two special friends that are in class with her (Brady and Logan).  I can't believe how much the girls have grown.  It is just the start of evening activities.  Our life is about to be crazy busy!.

Ellie and Ashtyn

I want to blog about a few things the girls say that I think are hilarious!  First, Ellie is walking around asking us if we want a capacheetah (cappuccino).  Then, Ashtyn asks us for some gateraider (gatorade).  Silly girls.

The Next Mozart

Today my mother-in-law called and signed Ellie up for piano lessons.  She starts next Wednesday and is so excited!  She is such a good listener and I think she will do a great job.  She is now in swimming, school, and piano lessons.  My life is about to get super busy!

Oh Ashtyn!

Last nigh,t I went to bed early (10:30 pm) with Ashtyn and Carl.  We were lying there trying to go to sleep when out of the blue this dialogue happens....

Ashtyn:   "Dad!"

Carl:  "Yes, Ashtyn."

Ashtyn:  "You drive me nuts!"

How can you not laugh at that!

Ashtyn's Haircut

Ashtyn is a on the go kind of girl.  I took her to get a haircut and I didn't like it!  I thought the girl cut it too short!  We are going to be in a wedding in June so we are going to grow it out.  She did a great job though.

I Love My Babies

Ashtyn loves her babies.  She reminds me of my sister.  She wants to get a new baby all the time.  I think it is so cute.  She is such a tomboy, but has a super soft spot for babies.  I love it!  The newest baby to her group is big baby.  She loves her and wants to take her everywhere.  So funny.

Summer Trip to Indy

Carl and I decided to take the girls to Indy for an end of the summer trip.  The kids had a blast, but I was exhausted.  First we went to the outlet malls.  This was kind of a disaster.  The kids were so tired and Ashtyn has been having problems going to the bathroom.  I had to take her there about 20 times.  Of course since she is a girl...I took her instead of Carl.  Then I couldn't take the quality time looking through the clothes like I would have liked.  After we left, we went to our hotel.   It was nice and the kids were so excited to sleep in a hotel and it wasn't for one night it was for two!  After we took a little rest, we headed to downtown Indy to walk around and have dinner.  We walked around the monument downtown and went back to the hotel.

Ashtyn and Ellie eating ice cream
The next day we went to the Indianapolis Zoo.  It was so much fun.  They got to pet sharks and see a dolphin show.   The dolphin show was so much fun!

Our final day up in Indy, we went to the Children's Museum.  The kids LOVED this place.  They ran around like CRAZY and it took us over 3 hours.  Ellie loved the Barbie exibit and Ashtyn loved it all.

The trip was a success, but now I need a vacation all by myself!

School

Tonight, I held a little preschool class in the kitchen.  I figured it was time to really step up our game and get Ellie working on her letters.  She does a good job with them, but practice makes perfect and we want her going into PreK knowing as much as she can.  Ellie loves school.  So does Ashtyn!  I did a couple letter lessons and we worked on a couple basic sight words.  Ashtyn worked on the letters A, B, C and D.  She wanted to move on quickly, but she could remember the sounds and recognize the letters A and B.  We will see if she remembers them tomorrow.
Ellie practiced recognizing uppercase and lowercase A and B.  Then she practiced writing them.  We worked on a couple connect the letter pictures as well as a couple mazes.  She loved the mazes.  When it was time to practice sight words, she really didn't like it.  She wanted to move on quickly.  Finally, we read the Step 1 book Cinderella.  Ellie got a little embarrassed and didn't want to point to the words when I was teaching her 1 to 1 correspondence, but Ashtyn jumped right in to pick up where Ellie left off. We finished the school lesson sitting on the coach with daddy and finishing the book.
